Charterville Close, Minister Lovell

Project

Pair of semi-detach traditionally constructed properties in Oxfordshire owned by a Social Housing Client and suffering from external cracking only to all elevations.

Thought to be constructed of calcium silicate or concrete type bricks prone to causing expansion cracking.

Wall tie failure was ruled out as a contributory factor following a survey and investigation by Bersche-Rolt.

Solution

After discussions with the client a reinforcement scheme was designed by a company engineer to provide resistance to cracking from future thermal or moisture induced movement.

Bersche-Rolt’s patented masonry reinforcement system was installed by company operatives to the outer leaf and cracked bricks were replaced.

Final pointing was matched to the existing finish.
